Award-winning packaging from Sealed Air provides ‘rapid fix’ for same day fulfilment
A new retention packaging system has been developed by SEE® to help e-commerce and fulfilment companies meet customer demands for same day deliveries and sustainability.
The new SEALED AIR® brand Korrvu® Rapid Fix provides operators with a retention system that can be quickly inserted in an I-Pack® tray. This creates a high-speed, automated packaging system that reduces manual processes and touch points, helping to improve productivity and eliminate bottlenecks, which can limit the ability to fulfil same day shipping.
The new solution also recently won two major French packaging innovation awards in November: the Innovation Award in the Functionality and Use category at the All4Pack Innovation Awards; and the Production and Distribution/Logistics category at the Oscars de l’Emballage. Competing with top industry players, Korrvu® impressed judges with its smart design and unique features.
David Masa, Portfolio Marketing Senior Manager at SEE®, commented: “Korrvu® Rapid Fix replaces the need for manual void fill and cushioning, while still maximising product protection. The retention insert can be put in place in seconds, with its highly resilient low-slip film locking products in place to protect against shock and vibration.
“Risks of damage can be minimised during storage and transit, meaning there’s lower chance of orders being returned and companies having to pay refunds or cover the costs of replacements and redeliveries.”
Korrvu® Rapid Fix is made from cardboard containing a minimum of 50% post-consumer recycled content, while the plastic retention film is recycle-ready*. Sustainability performance can be further enhanced through the elimination of bulky void fill material, enabling operators to use less packaging and to reduce the size and weight of packaged goods to optimise transportation space and mileage.
David added: “Korrvu® Rapid Fix can be seamlessly integrated into fulfilment lines to improve efficiencies throughout supply chains. It is quick and easy to set up and operate and requires no glue to suspend and protect products. Together with Sealed Air® brand I-Pack, operators can benefit from an automated packaging solution that helps improve workplace safety and reduces resource requirements, allowing staff to be deployed to other areas of operation.”
In addition to helping fulfilment companies improve efficiencies and sustainability, Korrvu® Rapid Fix has been designed to build customer satisfaction and enhance net promoter scores. The insert’s clear retention film perfectly displays and positions products, while its cardboard frame is available in brown or white finishes and can be digitally printed for customised branding and campaigns.
David continued: “The damage reduction performance of the retention system, combined with its sustainable properties and ability to optimise product presentation appeals to consumers. This helps to create a positive customer experience that can strengthen brand reputation and loyalty.”
The new Korrvu® Rapid Fix is ideal for packaging a range of products including cosmetics, health and beauty, homewares, toys and small-to-medium sized DIY tools and equipment.
“Fulfilment companies are under increasing pressures to ship same day orders, concluded David. “This requires high levels of packaging productivity and product protection to avoid the delays of bottlenecks and having to process damaged returns. Korrvu® Rapid Fix has been developed to overcome these challenges.”
*Degree of recyclability of the final package depends on the specific product configuration or components intended for recycling and the scope and availability of appropriate local recycling facilities.
